Description
Lionel RailSounds 3 Power Circuit Board.RailSounds 3 was primarily used in 1998 and 1999, and then issued sporadically through 2001. This board measures approximately 1.5" x 1.25" x 1.50".
This is the board in the modular RailSounds 3 system that provides power to the audio board in the system. You'll need to install it in a Lionel RailSounds system with other Lionel boards in order for it to function as it does not produce sound on its own. If you're looking for a complete Lionel RailSounds sound system, please see my other listings.
The ideal purpose for this board is as a replacement for a RS3 board that no longer functions. If you use this board to fix a non-working sound system, please make sure that this power board is the problem and not one of the other components in your system. If you have any questions, feel free to message me.
It is important to be sure you have a RailSounds 3 system in your locomotive or sound car to use this audio board. These boards are unnumbered, and were produced in both green and black. The easiest identifying characteristic is the large metal heatsink attached to it. Lionel offered these boards with different sized heat sinks, but they're all operationally compatible. The power board for RailSounds 4 and 5 is similar, but not compatible. Please ask if you're unsure this board will work in your installation.
